Beaverlac
2 hours up the N7 there's a campground, it's quite large, it's also quite popular these days. The people there are serious about camping - it's a great place to window shop tents and other gear.
It's such a hit because the location is stupidly splendid. The water flows year round, through a pristine, indigenous red stone rivine. It had been my first visit in almost ten years - that day we arrived Kayla watched my dog Bailey while myself and Shan found our way to the site's main pool.
It was a warm summer night, with a near full moon - we undressed and waded into the cool dark water. I made my way out till near the waterfall, spent some time trying to understand how I might feel if that tinge of panic could leave me well alone. A moment perhaps before it set in again, I swam quickly back to my girlfriend and the safety of the shallow water. We dried ourselves and walked back by the light of the moon.
I'd spent too many nights in the comfort of my very soft bed, so my attempts to sleep with nothing but my large green blanket were in vain. I was tired until the last day, the slopey hard section of earth I'd ended up with was largely to blame. Still, it was fantastic - working tirelessly to ensure the two women were happy and comfortable. They're both quite beautiful, I was well aware of my fortune.
It took some convincing, but that day, the day of my birth - we made our way to the third of the large rock pools. It was overcast, though we all called it at the halfway point - which is arguably more of a spectacle than the destination. We shared a few good laughs, huddled near a short rock overhang. It was less comfortable than our regular spot, still nice to see some of the surrounding area.
So, if you do head to Beaverlac - get fit. If you're single, you'll need to make a decent first impression. If you're happy, you'll need to get away from the others.
