Control
As a society, we subject ourselves to the whims and wills of wealth - an overseer, devoid of emotion. It takes any measure to retain its hold on us - corrupt by nature
I understand good, ie. the lives of many. A number of arguments: those yet to be born, women and children, quality of life, patriotism, the attainable - of course there are differing views on what takes precedence
"Why would anyone go to such an extent to support their ambitions?"
It brings to mind the issue of internal conflict - this man has desire, that overwhelms his ability to see himself. This desire is used, to blind himself - to the choice* he’s always made. It is beyond reason - it may take any form, corrupt, hungry. Maybe he contributes to [a] society, a cog in the machine that bears enormous weight - to justify this hunger. There could be many explanations, it would be [very] optimistic to act on the assumption that each of us has the capability to care more for others - than themself
"The fear of death", perhaps proportional to influence - to retain a positive net yield, as an individual, may act to bypass this concern. Still there is an intrinsic desire to live, to keep living, "the proffer of eternal life encourages ruthless greed"
It is concerning to see entertainment media take such a knock lately, a valid expression of society’s emotional depth - though perhaps influenced by external factors [large scale commercialisation in response to piracy, ie. NetFlix, ShowMax]. Without emotional complexity - I believe, “the aforementioned choice* does not come about”
What man wants for others, for himself - environmental concerns, whether to view poverty as collateral [as many do]. It would seem we are headed for an era of peace, though at what rate - communication is at an all time high, used to spread hatred, in addition to love. This discourse is subject to change, determined by the influenced - as well as those with influence, vice versa
